The antagonist, Rudra Pratap Singh (played with chilling restraint by veteran actor Rajiv Khurana), is not a cartoonish bad guy. He funds orphanages. He donates to temples. The series shows how evil hides in plain sight, protected by wealth and social status. Rudra doesn't just hunt Shilpa back—he tries to destroy her reputation first, attacking her credibility as a single woman in a patriarchal society.
Sharma underwent a drastic physical transformation for the role, losing 12 kilos to portray the physical decay of obsession.
