The opening phrase Wajjahtu wajhi literally translates to "I have turned my face." In the physical sense, this refers to the direction of the Qiblah (Ka'bah). However, theologically, it signifies a total orientation of the self. The term Wajh (face) in the Quran often represents the entire essence of a being.
