Perhaps the most brilliant and unsettling feature of Version 2.0 Final is its treatment of the Heads-Up Display (HUD). The Big Brother can "hack" your interface. Your minimap will occasionally show a blip right behind you, only for it to vanish when you turn around. Your ammo counter might glitch, or your health bar might display a false critical condition, causing the player to waste medical supplies. The UI is no longer a reliable tool; it becomes another avenue for the game to lie to you.
